Take a detour to find your way

00:15

Is it necessary to take a detour to find the path?

00:20

This question makes me think. For example if I think of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, many people go from different places.

00:29

Some go from Vigo, some from Portugal, some from France, some do it on foot, some in bicycle, but what connects them is the destination.

00:40

They all end up arriving at Santiago. The path doesn't matter nor the way is done. The important thing is how they do it and the attitude they do it with.

00:50

So, the answer to this question,I believe that often the path is found by getting lost. I believe that my career has never been a straight line, the opposite, it was more like a map with many shortcuts, many crossroads, with many decision makings,I also think that was what led me to where I am now,and also to find my purpose.

01:10

As a result, each place I've been left me with something unique.

01:14

For example, Microsoft gave me all the innovation of the way of working,as well as rigor dealing with people.

01:20

Vodafone gave me the structure and organization.McKinsey gave me a tool set to solve problems in a systematic and pragmatic way.

01:31

And L'Oreal gave me innovation, the entrepreneurial spirit and the passion for the people.

01:37

Each of this places, more than industry or sector, culture is highly significant, and if Tania stayed at Microsoft, she wouldn't be any different than now,she would just have a different version of who I am today. I think sometimes it's necessary to take these paths and detours. A very important person in my professional path told me something I won't forget: 'Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward'.

02:02

And that step back it's just part of the cha-cha-cha. And when life gives us moments to dance, you have to know how to take advantage of them and keep moving forward.

02:12

Sometimes you have to stray from the path to find yourself, without taking any right path.

02:17

And thinking about my experience,I did my internship at L'Oreal, and after the internship, I had other two professional internships in different companies. Eight years later,I came back. Back here, to the company, and there is something special when we come back to a place where we have been.

02:34

It's like Camino de Santiago.Amid so many places to visit and explore there are people who choose to do that path again. The same, but no longer the same as years ago.

02:44

They are going to do the same path, yes, but with a set of thoughts, different behaviors,I think that's what makes life beautiful:it's to continue growing and evolving.
